Lincoln's French Craze Contest Entry
Wow, did we cut that close. The deadline for Lincoln's French Craze Contest is March 25th. I kept telling Mom we needed to hurry. Finally she sat down to help me pick out our entries and look up the meanings of all those French words. Here's our entries.

Hide It, Find It or Rip It
A package arrived for me. I wonder what it could be.
It feels kinda soft.
It's red. I hope it's not another shirt.
It's a barn.
With cows.
It's a hide and seek puzzle toy. The barn has three barn doors that close with velcro and three little spotted cows that hide inside. I pull open the barn doors and pull out the cows. The cows squeak too. It's so much fun. I love it!!!
Wait. That's not all. I got something else. Two something elses.
It's a Moo Cow Rippy. All his parts rip off and you can reassemble it and do it all again. The head, arms, and legs are attached by velcro. It's the coolest toy ever. I do have to warn you we suspect they have batteries inside because the cow moo's and the lion snarls. If you do buy them be very careful and do not play with them without your human's supervision. Swallowed batteries could be very toxic and dangerous. I know Mom said she would never buy any more toys with batteries but we couldn't find the squeaky ones like this anywhere so she decided it might be ok if we only had them when her or Dad was playing with us. Since the pieces have to be reattached to start the game again it's not really possible for us to enjoy it by ourselves anyway. It's a great interactive toy for a doggie and their person.
That's not all. I got the Lion Rippy too.
Mom didn't notice the Lion has a long hairy mane or she wouldn't have gotten it she would have opted for the Elephant or Pig because the hairy stuff on the lion comes out really easy and gets all stuck in our mouths. Guess what sound the lion makes..... it snarls. Can you believe it it actually snarls at me. How dare it. I'll show it who's boss. Off with your head lion. Hahahahaha!!!
I have a very good feeling that Bella and Sweet Pea will be getting their on Rippys because they both liked mine. I'm thinking Bella's Gotcha Day and Pea's Birthday may an Elephant and a Pig. Shhh, don't tell them it's a surprise.

Due to Bella's many, many, many, many, many, many, many, allergies it took awhile for us to read all the ingredients for all the treats and food products. Seriously, there are a lot to choose from and we wanted to try items we can not get locally. Then add to that the Dr. had just told us not go too high on the protein when switching my food because with my age it wouldn't be very kind to my kidneys. He said to stick with a chicken based food approx. 18 % protein. I wanted to order a new bag of kibble to try, but I decided to share with everyone and I ordered us all treats.
We were so happy to see brands we have always wanted to try but can not find anywhere locally like The Honest Kitchen, Sojos, Newman's Organics. I would like to recommend Mr. Chewy add a new brand we just discover locally and it's called "by Nature Organics", Please. I eat this on top of my kibble and I think if we could purchase it by the case it might save us some $$. Oh, and could you please add Precise kibble to your dog food line too? I'm thinking on our next order we might get a case of soft food. I see they offer some interesting products I've not tried yet. This organic chicken with the nifty label Weruva Kurobuta Pagoda Organic Chicken and Kobe Beef sound appealing.
What we like about Mr. Chewy is they have a large selection of organic and natural products free from all the artificial ingredients found in off the shelf grocery store foods and treats. There is a convenient tab you can click on for a complete list of ingredients. I would like to recommend Mr. Chewy please add an Analysis tab too because I had to keep Googling for each product and sifting through that products site to find the nutritional analysis for each product. That's because the Dr. told us to stay close to 18% protein. We thought it would also be helpful if there was a feeding guide for each dog food product so we would know how different foods compared. With 3 different sized dogs and all of them being large it's very helpful to know if a product we are considering will require more or less per feeding.
Since we did look at every page for dog food and dog treats we would suggest a way of knowing how many total pages there are. I just like to know how close to the end I'm getting :) Don't get me wrong there can never ever be too many choices for cookies and kibble. Then again the majority of shoppers probably do not have dogs with such specific dietary requirements as we do.....aging giant breed, dog with allergies, dog with digestive troubles and will probably never look at each and every page. Sometimes it's helpful to know if there are 2 pages left or 50 so I can plan my snacks and potties accordingly.
I even tried the live chat feature at Mr. Chewy. It's PAWSOME! I got to chat live with a real human being. I asked about the 1-2 day shipping and they use FedEx Home Ground and deliveries are made Tuesday - Saturday. None on Monday or Sunday. I think every website should have a live chat feature. It's so much nicer than waiting for an email or phone call. It's instant. Cool.

Chicken Mutt Loaf and Carob Cream Cheese Brownies ~ Yum
We are on Day 3 of Emma month. Mom has decided I get an entire month of celebrating......ME!
Today we had my birthday dinner and dessert. The main course Chicken Mutt Loaves.
Here's the recipe if anyone else would like to give these a lick.
1 pound ground chicken
2 large eggs
1 1/2 cups crackers, finely crushed
3 Tablespoons Parmesan cheese
3 Tablespoons shredded Cheddar Jack cheese
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried parsley
Preheat oven to 350. Grease muffin tin. Combine all ingredients in a large bowl and mix well. Shape into balls and place one in each muffin slot.
Bake for 30 minutes or until slightly golden.
Cool completely before eating....don't burn your tongue.
Store covered in fridge for up to 3 days or freeze.
As you see I'm still having to wear long sleeves. They protect my elbow owie from my uncontrollable tongue. It was healing up beautifully until a few unsupervised moments. The humans have got to figure out something better because this stupid shirt keeps tripping me. Mom has shortened the sleeves twice and I still keep getting my feet all tangled up and tripping. Especially when I'm trying to get up off the couch. I think in an attempt to make sure I had plenty of room to move about she over compensated. Mom, remember I'm a petite Dane. We called a tailor/alteration shop and they want over $30 to alter a $5 shirt. Mom has another shirt like this red one and 3 different styles of shirts to try from Goodwill and if she can't get something to fit me I think we'll be giving the professional a try.
Back to my dinner. The chicken was absolutely delicious. They smelled so good Mom said they could have had them for their dinner. No meal is complete without dessert. I got a Carob heart shaped brownie with Cream Cheese and Peanut Butter frosting. Carob can be found at health food or natural food stores. It is safe for dogs.
Caution: Do NOT use chocolate. Chocolate is TOXIC to dogs. NEVER give dogs chocolate !!!!

1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup oil
1/2 cup honey
2 large eggs
Preheat oven to 350. Grease an 8 inch baking pan. Stir together flour, carob powder, baking powder in a large bowl and set aside. In a small bowl whisk together oil and honey. Add the eggs, one at a time whisking after each one. Add wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until well combined.
Spread batter evenly in pan. Bake 20 minutes or until brownies start to pull away from pan.
Cool, Cut, Serve.
Frosting.
1 pkg. cream cheese, softened
drizzle of honey
With electric mixer whip cream cheese and honey until smooth. Spread on Carob brownies.
Peanut Butter Drizzle
Spoon peanut butter into microwavable dish and heat until smooth and thin enough to pipe. Careful peanut butter may be hot. If so let cool a little. Pour peanut butter into zipper baggie and seal. Cut a tiny piece off one corner and pipe peanut butter wording or drizzles onto brownies.
Store in airtight container up to 4 days, freeze up to 2 months.

Happy Birthday Emma ~ 14 years
Yeah! It's my birthday. Mom even skipped work today to spend my birthday with me. I'm so excited.
We slept in and snuggled and then all of us went for a nice walk. It's the first real walk since Sweet Pea's spay surgery and then her inflamed colon issue. By the way she is feeling much better and we want to thank everyone for the Power of the Paw. Thank you!!!!
We went for a walk along one of the greenways and it has a boardwalk that borders a lake. We got to see a lot of birds and ducks. Mom thought it was going to be a nice warm 45 degrees, but I'm pretty sure it never got that warm today. One sign we past said 39 degrees. It's ok because I still like to be out walking seeing all the sites and sniffing all the peemail. I don't have pictures of this walk because Mom forgot the camera.
After our walk we had to wait about an hour and then we had breakfast topped with scrambled eggs and cheese followed by a nice nap.
Guess what we did after our nap?.......................I can't believe it we went for another walk just Mom and I. We went to a paved walking path, crossed a little foot bridge over icy cold water and then went off roading (hiked the natural trails) for the trek back. I got to see some black squirrels and red squirrels.
The foot bridge was a little scary but I was a brave girl and carefully placed each foot and crossed right over to continue our adventure. Then it was time to pick Dad up for lunch and get my birthday burger.
After we returned Dad to work Mom took me to the pet store. I got to sniff lots and lots and lots of bags of food, treats and chewies. I explored all the toys but none of them compared to the food. Don't tell on me but I even got a treat from the bulk treat bin, Shhhhhh. Usually I just help myself to one but this time Mom actually gave it to. I sure was surprised. She said shhhhh don't tell.
When Dad got home I got to open my pressie. I love opening gifts it's so much fun.
Oh wow it's a brightly colored multiple squeaky Octopus that grunts. I also got to unwrap a piece of a chewie stick. Mom felt bad for the other two and wrapped Bella and Pea a piece of the chewie stick too. The chewie sticks are about 3 feet long so we never get to eat the entire stick all at once.
Mom says this weekend she is going to make me a birthday cake. I think it will be Carob. I will post pictures of it after it's all baked up nice and yummy.
I've heard rumors that we are going to be celebrating my entire birthday month. I think I have some more goodies coming from online because I saw Mom on my computer this afternoon. I will have to listen closely these next few days for the mailman because I have a feeling there will be a package for me.
