Easter Egg Hunt

Easter Sunday we waited and waited for Dad to mow the backyard so we could go out and hunt Easter eggs.  Dad got out the loud, stinky grass cutting machine and mowed down all my grass.  How dare he!  If he would just let me out there and leave me at it I could take care of it for him.  They don't like it when we eat grass because Bella can't hold her grass well at all.  Well, Mom went out to hide our eggs and came back in with a full basket.  She said too many bugs.  She thinks she got a tick on her hand while trying to hide them so gathered them all back up and said we would hunt our eggs inside.  Well I watched her fill them and I know they are filled with burger and roast beef so I really don't care where we hunt for the eggs I just want my beef! Bring on the Beef!  Where's the Beef?

We have been having Easter egg hunts for years.  Mom and Dad were so surprised the first year we did this and we knew exactly what to do.  We search for the eggs, gently squeeze them until they pop open and inside is our yummie surprise.  EASY !!!!   We are so gentle that we've been using the same eggs for several years.  We had 24 small eggs with roast beef inside and 6 large eggs with pieces of hamburger patties inside.  They were so good.  I don't know why we can't hunt Easter eggs every day.  Mom has said we can do it some other times through out the year but then she forgets.

Mom only got the one picture because she thought she would try and capture every moment by using the video feature on the camera after this picture was taken so there are no still pictures of me hunting eggs.  She has tried to edit videos to put on here of our learning our new dance tricks and moves but it hasn't been successful.  When Dad as some time she will ask him take pictures of us learning our dance tricks.

I think my secret I've guarded for many, many years is out.  I am not just a laid back, easy going, lazy, old goat.  I'm a caninestein!  I can't believe she didn't know.  Just because I'm not all into agility and obedience classes and trick classes and stuff like my sister doesn't mean I can't do those same things too.  I just prefer the lazy and pampered life as Queen.  Really, I have them pretty well trained.  How do you think I got the nick name "Queen Emma"?  I have picked up on every trick.  It's so super easy.  We have done circle, down, come, sit, stay, peekaboo, high five, and shake.  I love food so it's easier to just do these little tricks so she'll hand over the yummies.  I can't believe she's been that naive and gullible. I wonder what's in her ever pondering mind for me now though?  She keeps talking about preparing for "Dog Games".  She said she doesn't want everyone laughing at the tennis balls bouncing off my head this year.  I can catch...when I want to.  If it's not beef why bother?

Sorry there aren't more pictures of our festive Easter Day.  Hope yours was filled with love and joy.

Happy Happy Bella Day !!!!!!!!!

We started celebrating Bella Day yesterday even though today is the official anniversary of my joining the family.  It's hard to believe 7 years has gone by already.  Wow, it sure did fly.

Yesterday we went to a park with lots of wooded trails, open field trails and a lake with doggie beach.  It was so nice to get out and spend the day outside.  We went for a very long walk, then we went out to eat.  Mom and Dad took turns going to a couple stores where they purchase these square things with lots of paper in them and then they spend time just sitting and staring at them and every so often moving the paper inside.  I have no idea why that's fun.  I like to go, go, go.  Walks, fetch, trick training, agility.

Whew, that was a long walk

O.K. so maybe I do rest once in awhile.  But, it was after all a very long walk and a rather warm day.  We both missed our regular naps.  Usually we watch TV with Mom and Dad in the evening but we were so pooped.

Today ~ the official Bella Day
We woke up and went right out for our normal potty and then ate breakfast.  I knew something was up as I watched Mom get dressed, fill all the water bottles and get our bag ready.  OH BOY!  we are going for a walk.  Oh, I can't wait.  If I bark and run around will it make them hurry up?  Lets go!

Wow, it sure is warm today

I love walks

Pretties for Mommy and me

Whew, that was a good one

get off me fly

nap time

After our walk we out to eat for a late lunch.  Mom and Dad had a tenderloin sandwich with fries, we got a plain, no cheese double hamburger, and we stopped by DQ to pickup  some ice cream because today it was 80 degrees.  It was only 64 degrees or something like that yesterday.  It feels really hot today.  We drove to another park and found a picnic shelter with a shaded top to eat our lunch at.  It was so nice and quite and we were the only ones around.  Emma and I laid on the nice cool damp concrete floor of the picnic shelter and enjoyed our hamburger.  Then Mom shared her tenderloin and fries with us and Emma and I split a vanilla DQ kids ice cream.  Mmmmmmmm!!!!!!  I think we had a pawsome Bella Day.

It's my Birthday the Big 13

Happy Birthday ! Emma 13, Bella 7

Not exactly bakery pretty, but is sure tasted good

Mmmmmmm

Are you sure this is ok?  Mommy usually tells me to"leave it"

Our cake was made from a mix by Bark Bars

Yeah, we got to lick the beaters
My birthday is in March and Bella's is in February so we celebrated both of them at once.  Mom baked us a cake from a mix made by Bark Bars because it didn't have any ingredients that Sissy is allergic too.  The really pretty cake was Mom and Dad's cake they ate in celebration of our special day.  Our cake tasted so good it was carob cake with cream cheese frosting and purple gel writing.  It was so delicious.  We could have eaten it all but Mom said we had to freeze it and eat a little at a time so our tummies won't get upset.

Our day started out with lunch from Hardees.  We got our very own hamburger and a half each to eat.  We just love hamburgers...so much Mom and Dad has to spell the word or we get really excited.  Mom gets really annoyed with the fast food people because she will order them plain no cheese and they still make them up with onions, pickle, mustard, ketchup.  Us doggies can NOT have onions because they are toxic.  But today the fast food people must have known it was a very special occasion because they were made just perfect for us.

As you can see I am very patient and wish they sure would hurry up and give me a piece of that hamburger after all I'm the one who turned 13.  That's a very long time for a Great Dane.  Come on guys Pleeeeaaase.

Don't forget me

After lunch we had a box of presents to open.  That was wonderful fun.

Whaaat, that's it?
Now that's what I'm talk'n bout

Chewy!  I love chewies

How does it work?

What is that?

Whoa, it's got food in there

Come out, come out of there food

Maybe I can stare it out

Come on Sis you can do it

Whew that was hard work, time for a rest
I think it's time for a nap.

Yeah, Christmas !!!!!

Christmas was Pawsome !!!

We signed up for Secret Santa Paws at our local pet store. The way it works is for each name you pick off the Christmas tree you get to add a name. Our mom picked two names - one a ferret in memory of our two ferret sisters Stinka and Spaz and she picked a Rottweiler doggie.

I wish Mom had thought to get a picture of Bella trying to help wrap all the gifts. Sis was tearing off tags, tearing off pieces of wrapping paper, moving the boxes around on the paper with her nose, pulling the boxes off the paper, dropping her toys on the paper, walking on the paper (mom taped up a lot of tiny holes) and pulling bows off wrapped gifts. I sat on the couch and watched the whole thing. This close to Christmas I didn't want to end up on Santa's naughty list.

On Christmas day we had boxes to unwrap and giant stockings full of goodies. There were treats, chewies and toys. We got some fun toys and yummies from our Secret Santa's that Mom and Dad would not have thought to buy us. They learned we like some things they thought we wouldn't. That was a fun experience. Like Sissy, they would have never gotten her those cute rubbery squeeky toys because we both like to chew our toys and they always said they would not hold up. Imagine their surprise when those toys have held up better than some of the plush soft squeeky toys they got us. Hehehe, I see new kinds of toys coming home in the future :)

Yeah, Santa got my pawmail. I really, really wanted a chewie

Mmmmm, chewwwieee

It's mine

We love toys

I love my pig ball with the lion tale. I don't know why Dad says it's ugly. I LOVE it!

Thank you Secret Santa for all the nice toys, treats, and other goodies

Paper, toys which should I play with now?

Grandma massages are the best

Dad makes a great pillow.

Zzzzzz.....Goodnight.

Sickies, Healing, Dr.'s, Whew !

Well, since Sissy got sick back in Oct. we have had a lot of excitement both unexpected and some that was even fun and planned.

The good news, sis is all healed up :)

Mom says we can't call her Franken-dog any more, hehehehe. We told her she already had a Halloween costume. We called her stitches her "zipper".

It sure was scary but thank God for hearing all our prayers and healing her. Mom read the Bible and prayed a lot. She asked us all to pray too.

Mom said it's amazing how fast we doggies heal. She said she doesn't think we really heal faster we just don't have the mental discouragement that people do when they are recovering. We doggies just want to get back to life, to fun, to enjoying the moment.

We sure did get lots of goodies while sissy was recovering. We got new toys and extra treats. It was almost like a birthday or Christmas.

Sissy got a fat headed, sad eyed puppy dog that I really, really wanted. I actually picked it out of the shopping bag but Mom said no she got me the teddy bear, hump. That's ok I take it and play with it until someone realizes I've got it :) Lately they let me play with it anyway. I've been getting to do a lot of things that usually get noticed and interrupted or redirected. I guess they finally realized that sometimes sissy takes my toys too. I guess we are just sharing all toys now and Mom and Dad have given up trying to keep them separate. Sissy also got a big headed, big eyed turtle and I got his really cute big headed, big eyed monkey you see above.

All these pillows and blankies all over the floor are pretty nice. Mom said they are here because Sissy isn't allowed to jump up and down off of furniture for 10 days so we had to keep her down on the floor. We brought out lots of fluffy blankies, pillows, and dog beds. That also meant no one slept in the bed for 10 days either. Mom and Dad said since sissy couldn't join us we would all join her. We slept in the living room with her. Mom and Dad took turns staying up with her so she wouldn't lick or chew on her stitches. There was no way I was going to sleep on the floor all night for 10 whole nights. I need something much softer for my majestic Great Dane bones. As Queen Emma I took my place upon the couch for my nightly sleeps. Sis, Mom and Dad took the floor. I don't mind because I remember them doing these same things for me when I had my ouchie surgeries. They sure do love us and take really good care of us.
