Emma at the Beach

Emma month has been a blast!!  Last Monday we went to the beach.  It was a perfect day.  The sun was out and there was a very cool breeze and we got to run and play in the sand.

Mom remembered my soccer ball so we could play a game on the beach.  I LOVE having beaches all to our self so we can enjoy some freedom off leash.

Look at this......I still got it!  Wow Eeee look at that sand fly :)  Zoooooooooooooooooooom!

Yeah, I know I kinda forgot to pick up the soccer ball.  I just wanted to run free and feel the soft sand between my toes and the cool breeze through my fur.  It sure did feel good.  I told Mom and Dad I think we should move to the ocean so I can go to the beach everyday and it would be warm and sunny every day of the year.   Dad said after a few months we would be sick of it because there isn't much else to do besides walk on the beach.  Hmmm, what else do you need besides sunshine and sand??

Don't fret the other two were here with me enjoying the sun and fun too.  Wherever one goes we all go.

Bella brought her most favorite toy - sling ball.  If you haven't tried one and you enjoy fetch it's an awesome toy.  Sling ball is a rubber ball on a stretchy rubbery loop so you can shoot it far far far out like a sling shot.  It should not be played with without direct human supervision because the ball is a soft rubber and if you are a doggie that likes to chew you might accidentally pull off and swallow pieces of the ball.

I should point out I'm not the only senior doggie in the house.  I do believe that my baby sister is now a senior since she turned 8 yrs old a couple months ago.  Although I think the humans have done the math all wrong because she doesn't act a day over puppy.  Trust me she could out last the energizer bunny.

We even posed nicely for Mom so she could get her millionth picture of us.

The Pea did get to run on the beach too, but because we are still working on her recall Mom was in all the pictures close to Pea with a smelly salmon treat making sure she stayed focused while they ran up and down the beach together.  Mom said no way could I post any pictures that included her in them.  She said no one wants to see her bouncing up and down the beach.

We found a natural agility obstacle to play with.

What the heck.  By now Mom should know how to use that old camera.  It was so windy the handle strap for the camera blew across and you can't really see the obstacle Bella ran under.

It was much to high for any of us to jump over, but it made a fun tunnel.

We had a magnificent day and I have totally enjoyed an entire month devoted to ME.    I wonder what surprises and excitement April will bring?  April is Bella's Gotcha Day.

Oh, I want to caution all my furiends who like to play in the sand.....DON"T EAT SAND.  We have been to lake beaches and ocean beaches and played and romped many times but for some reason this adventure ended with Bella waking Mom up at 3:30 A.M. and 5:00 A.M. with an upset tummy.  She vomited on my blankie, over the edge of the bed and 3 times in the kitchen.  It was sand.  The next day her poo had shiny bling....sandy poo.  We were with her the entire time.  She never ate the sand.  Then Mom thought back and the sand was a bit damp and really stuck to the ball more than usual.  Usually the sand is really light and blows right off, but not this day.  We think each time she brought the ball back she ingested sand off the ball.   Note to self we will not be playing ball at the beach anymore.  If we do Mom will be bringing something to wipe the ball off with.  Don't worry all is fine and Bella is well.  Mom felt horrible because she couldn't begin to imagine how that must have felt inside her tummy or how it must have felt when she had to poo.

Other than that we had a marvelous day and I am so thankful for all the fun things we've done together and all the cool toys I've gotten.

  2. I think you should move to the beach too. Running in the sand is great exercise to keep you strong and limber. Of course you would have to find a way to limit ingestion of that sandy stuff, but I am sure you can figure something out.

  3. Your outing looks like so much fun. I know everyone really enjoyed it. Sire wish we could let our huskies off leash but we are afraid when they start running they would keep going!!!

How is the spot on your leg healing?

  9. I don't know about the Bella Energiser Bunny - judging from those first pictures, you're not so bad yourself, Emma! :-)

Oh, I've vomited too after a visit to the beach - but not because I ate sand but because I drank salty sea water! Actually, I puked in the car on the way home - so the car was a nice, wet, salty mess!! :-) It's coz I got thirsty while playing and couldn't resist drinking some of the water right around me, even though it was awfully salty! That was in the early days of my youth, though - now that I'm older & wiser, I don't drink sea water anymore! :-)

  10. Wow! That looks like you had SO much fun, Emma! I've never been to the beach. Just to a lake closeby. But I don't get near the water. You're very brave!
