I wonder what's in it...............
Paper????
What's that? What's it do? Does it squeak? It doesn't look very exciting. There's still more in the box right?
Hmmm. What's happening? There's funny noises coming from that weird thing. Mom?
An hour and a half later.............................
Whatever it is we give up. Mom's been stomping the floor for over an hour and a half. That crazy striped thing keeps getting bigger and bigger and bigger and bigger. Why didn't she get us something we could play with? She knows tennis balls, sling balls, squeaky stuffed toys are all things we love. What was she thinking. Later I'll ask you again what was she thinking.
Finally the Mom and the giant striped thingy both stopped making noise and this is what we got.
Uhhhhhhhhhh. What the heck! Is it supposed to be a......ball. It's bigger than Emma. It's bigger than ME! How am I supposed to play with that?
Another thing Mom didn't think about........how is she getting that outside? Yep, it's too big to fit through the door. Now we are stuck with it in our living room. Dad said she probably should have ordered the smaller one at least it wouldn't have been so much bigger than ME. Again, I say what was she thinking.
Mom got the clicker and treats out. O.K. now you got may attention. Bounce, Bounce, Bounce. That's me trying to get Mom to give me a treat for being so darn cute : ) I'm still not so sure what I'm supposed to do with this thing. First we started out and I got clicks and treats for any kind of interaction with the giant ball, then just for pushing it, then I started pushing it with my front feet by hopping up against it. Then the clicks and treats stopped. Huh? Then I was getting clicks and treats for my nose touching it. Whew! My brains exhausted.
So then Mom says lets play something else. What do think she brings out next?
More balls!
This is new. I wonder what she wants us to do. At least these are more our size.
Lets play!
This WE CAN DO! Wow, this is great fun!!!
Mom poured some plastic ball pit balls into a box and tossed in some treats. We started with only one layer of balls across the bottom of the box so it was really easy to just reach in and find the treat. We were all soooo good at it Mom said we didn't need any practice so she filled up the box with balls. Now we have to root around to find the treats. The pesky box doesn't sit still and moves around as we root through the balls. Mom said she could have held the box still for us, but it was a better workout for us if she just took pictures and videos of us having fun.
Wanna see our video?
Did you see Emma? She's pretty good. That's the most I've seen her move in awhile. Go! Emma!
If you are wondering what is written on the balls it's exercises for Dad's fitness class. He said he wasn't going to need them for awhile so we took them. Dad, not sure you're getting these back because they're a lot of fun. Plus we kinda slobbered all over them, Ooops.
If anyone is interested in their own giant ball it's a Jolly Mega Ball 30" with a cover and each is sold separate. I would recommend the 25" ball because this one we have is way too big for us. Mom and Dad wishes Mom had ordered the smaller one. In Mom's defense she didn't know it was going to be that big. Her and Dad both said it looks so much larger than the one they watched the Rottie play with while we were on vacation. If you do get one do follow the instructions. It may seem like you will never be able to inflate it to the size they recommend, but you can and should to ensure it lasts as long as possible. Some reviews said there was no way it would inflate to 30" and the cover was way too big. That's what we thought at first too. After a phone call to Horseman's Pride the company that makes them they ensured us it was possible. It was we did it. The foot pump took forever. As you can see we took a nap while Mom stomped and stomped for over an hour and half to inflate it to the proper size.
If you are interested in playing the Find It game amongst a bunch of colorful balls you can pick those up at Wal-Mart or Toys-R-Us or online.
Hey Mango, can we borrow your giant water bowl for some ball rooting fun? Can you imagine how many treats the humans could toss in there?! You supply the pool and we'll bring the balls and treats.
Emma,
Bella & Pea

That's hilarious! I can't believe you can't get that huge planet outside. If you could, I'd bet you'd have a "ball" playing with it!
ReplyDeleteYou guys are so lucky to have a mom and dad that come up with such great creative games. Our mom and dad are LAZY and play the same old boring fetch the stuffie game over and over and over

LOLoL Oh my balls!! BOL! Man what a wonderful and fun game! You're mama did a great job even if she got just a tad carried away with the size of the larger ball. Happy Tuesday!
ReplyDeleteMiss Emma is like ME! Methodical, right? No wasted motion.
ReplyDeleteAre you learning to herd the giant ball? Momma tried that with me but she got bored I think. But new stuff that stimulates your mentals is always a good time.
Slobbers,
Mango
oh my god Emma! What a gigantic ball!! I thought at first you were doing that new dog sport – I think it's called Treiball or something? You have to push a giant ball around with your nose. My human's been hearing a lot about it and a lot of people have been telling her to try it with me but we haven't got a giant ball and my human is keen to add any more stuff for us to lug around! :-)
ReplyDeleteI'll bet you could learn to push your giant ball around though, really easily with the clicker. Your human just has to click you every time you touch your nose to the ball and then gradually withhold the click unless you actually nudges a bit with your nose not just touch – and then gradually extend that to you pushing the ball. My human taught me to do that with a small soccerball but I think it would be a lot easier with a giant ball like yours.
Your other ballgame look like lots of fun! What a great idea for a rainy day… We must remember that! :-)
Slobbers,
Honey the great Dane
Really cute! I should try to work with my pups to have interest in balls. They don't care for them and have no interest. When we had Madden it was so fun, she thought balls were the best invention possible. I am learning I have about 101 things to tackle training was, and here I thought I had "perfect" pups. ;)
ReplyDeleteLol, had to laugh at Sweet Pea's methodical approach. She hardly spilled a ball:) What a great idea, although I doubt Frankie and Beryl would see past the balls and would try and destroy each one individually. Have you tried the muffin tin game with them? Grab a muffin tin, put a treat in each hole and cover with a ball and watch them figure out how to get at the treat. I haven't done this with Beryl. It didn't take Frankie long to learn to pick the ball up and drop it away from the tin so he could get at the treat.
ReplyDeleteOne and a half hours to pump up the big ball, that is true dedication. I think I would have been off to the garage to use their tyre pump after about 10 minutes!
