Staycation

What better way to ring in the new year than with a staycation.  That's exactly what Mom thought so she's been hanging out with us the past two weeks. She's trying very hard to convince Dad WE NEED a stay at home Mom.  You know doggies today could really benefit from that extra supervision, guidance, nurturing, attention, homeschooling and constant love.

We've snuggled, played games, gone for car rides and walks.  One thing is for sure I'm falling behind in my beauty sleep.  Don't humans know you are supposed to take several naps a day?

I wonder how many times I've sniffed this post?  There's always new peemail each time I visit.  I have to read each one.  It would be rude not to.  Mom and Dad just don't understand the importance of a peemail.
While we were out and about today we counted 32 swans.  That's a lot of birds.  Did you know they stick their butts up in the air and their heads down under the water?  I guess they just don't know how to swim.  I don't know how to swim either, but I'm pretty sure it's not like that.
We've been changing up our walking routine, but today was the only day Mom had her camera with us.  She dedicated the day to taking us for a walk one at a time.  It only took 5 hours with a one hour lunch.  Somehow I ended up last.  Not sure how the Queen was at the end of the line.  Mom said it was because she was waiting for the temperature to rise the final 3 degrees to the projected high for the day.

Judging by all the layers of clothes she has on me I think she was predicting some kind of phenomenal blizzard of the century.

In case you can't tell I'm wearing a hooded sweatshirt, a fleece lined wind and rain repellant coat and Bella's snood which Mom thought would make a nice neck warmer for me.
If she keeps adding garments I'll need an assistance dog to help me move about with all that additional weight.  Mom says with my decreased weight and not enough body fat I need these extra layers to protect me from the cold so I can still get some daily exercise to keep up my strength and prevent muscle loss.  I guess we will just think of this as a weight training exercise.  Maybe by spring I'll look like Emma Schwarzendog.

We discovered a section of walking trail we didn't know about and Mom took each of us to explore it.
Sweet Pea got to go on an additional trail we didn't get to go one.  It would have been too much walking for me and Bella had already put in a good distance for her walk.  If you want to know what I think.  I think Sweet Pea went on the extra trail because she needs to loose weight.  Yep, she's a little overweight for her size.  She's been sneaking out and eating what I leave behind before Mom or Dad gets my food bowl picked up.

Here is a really good 2013 drool photo.  I think we're going to have a difficult time topping this exquisitely executed drool performance.
I lost track.  Exactly how many times did she get that drool looped around her snout?

Until next time,
Emma

  6. Emma, you have on almost as many layers as my momma wears. I don't think you could manage one item more.

I love it when momma is on staycation. More time for dogs, right? Having private walkies is good for everybody.

    Kisses,
    Dexter

  7. We're so happy to see a new post and to know you are doing well. Your layered look is most attractive, Queen Emma. It's great your mom can stay home with you for a while. Maybe the work place would let her take a sabbatical? Keeping our paws crossed for you, Your Majesty. We're looking forward to your birthday celebration!

  8. Yep...sniffing peemail is Most Impawtant. You've got to keep up with all the current events. And it's sure a more interesting way to do it than sitting in front of a computer like the humans do!

That's super pawsome that your mom took you all for separate walkies! We can't do that around here. I'm okay if Mom goes alone with Brudder Ranger. But if Mom tries to take me without him, he starts YELLING at the top of his lungs! I mean, it's so loud, you can hear him all the way down the street. Most Unbecoming of a rat terrier of his stature, but there you go.

And you ROCK the layered look!

    Mayzie
