Dancing With The Doggie Stars

My mom I tell you she knew 2 months ago the deadline for Dancing With The Doggie Stars was midnight Wednesday.  We started practicing in April.  Then it got put off until tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow.  Then our house guest arrived and that takes extra time.  Well, true to Moms bad habits she waited until the last minute to practice with us (the day before and day of).  It's a good thing we are super smart and agile.  I have to say the Queen Emma is looking pretty majestic and Princess Bella has got some groovy moves, oh to be that young again.  I think I was remarkable for a 13 year old Great Dane.  How many teenage Great Danes can even get off the couch let alone dance. ;)  Sorry, I'm not supposed to toot my own horn.  Mom says that not very nice.  Well, she wasn't very nice making us miss out on all those days of practice.

I am dancing to Good Morning Beautiful by Steve Holly.  I told Mom I could do something more upbeat but she said with such a small space to work in and such a large dog we should try something kind of slow.  We have matching attire.  You can't really tell but my collar is lime green with butterflies and dragonflies my flowers are lime green and match Mom.

Considering we didn't have much time to practice I think we did a wonderful routine.  Mom can't really dance so it was all up to me.   The next video is of Bella.  Mom and Bella did a routine to "You Make Me Smile" by Uncle Kracker.  Bella's collar is purple plaid with flowers and she is wearing pink flowers to math Mom.  I think Bella has awesome energy and you can tell she just loves to dance and prance.  She will do anything Mom asks.  I got tired just watching her.  Take a peak.

She's got talent (Bella definitely not Mom).  That girl sure could dance with the proper training.  Can you imagine how awesome she would have been had Mom practiced the whole 2 months.  Don't tell Mom I said this but please someone needs to get Mom a dance instructor.  Where are her moves....we're moving but I didn't see Mom moving too much.  Maybe we need to find a really good motivator for her....maybe chocolate.  No, that wouldn't work because we aren't allowed to touch that stuff.  Hmm, what would Mom work for?

  1. Oh Emma - I'm so pleased to have found your blog coz now I can come and visit you! And Bella too! And keep up with all your adventures!

And sorry - I didn't realise - if I knew you had a blog, I wouldn't have had to pester you for some intro on your videos - hee! hee! Anyway, I have combined what you said in this post with the stuff you emailed me as well so that's great!

I think both your routines are just so AWESOME!! I love the choice of music in yours - it is just so beautiful and it matches you so wonderfully - so majestic & gracefully how you move. I don't know why you were saying mean things about your human though - I think she moves beautifull! So graceul as well! And watching you together is so lovely - you share such a beautiful bond.

And Bella! Whew! Energy is right! Love her waggy-waggy tail! And I LOVE that move where she is between your human's legs and moving her head from side to side, in time with your human - that is so cool! Whatr a clever trick! I must ask my human to teach me that as well!

Anyway, thank you SO much for all your hard work preparing for my contest and for supporting it!

    SLobbers,
    Honey the Great Dane

  2. You ladies are awesome! It must be so exciting growing up together! I loved both of your entries in the Dancing with the Doggie Stars contest; I'm going to be following you from now on! BTW Emma, you are the oldest dane I've heard of so far; I have a 15 month old black great dane! I'd love to be together with her for 12 more years! You guys are so lucky! You must share your secrets on your blog...how do you stay so vitalized in your senior age? You look so well!

  3. Bella! Where have you been all my life! What an amazing dance. I love the part where your head bobs back and forth. And those roll overs were super athletic. Good luck in the contest.

  6. Hello, ladies! We saw your excellent dances on Honey's blog and hastened over to introduce ourselves. Emma's dance was elegant and regal yet loving, as befits a Queen in her golden years. Bella's dance was funny and feisty and yet so tender, it brought a tear to mama's eyes. Being doggies, we of course don't cry about happy stuff. Brava!

We are mid-sized rescue doggies who do NOT have a blog. Mama is an old fuddy duddy and a technophobe to boot. But we love to read other doggies' blogs and comment. Abby is a boxer-beagle mix and Jed is a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever. But mama had Great Danes most of her life, so we've learned to share her pleasure in reading Dane blogs [pittie sissy's also welcome; mama's first childhood dog was a Dane-pittie mix]. Queen Emma is in AMAZING shape for a senior Dane; mama only had one female Dane who lived to reach 13 years. Her longest lived male Dane was 12. We're also looking forward to getting to know your new sissy, Sweet-T. She looks like she fits right in, and no matter how much her prior dad loved her, he didn't take her to the vet or for proper walkies and she's better off staying with you.

  8. KME Mom,

Thank you for visiting us. It's a pleasure to meet you. The Dr. told me we have Bella to thank for my vitality. He said she helps keep me young.

  9. Mango,

It's nice to meet you. Thank you for visiting us. I didn't mean to make anyone cry. It was supposed to be sweet and make you smile. I'm glad you like us we were a little self-conscious.

  10. Brooke,

I am happy to meet everyone. Thank you for taking the time to visit us. I didn't mean to make anyone cry. I'm so very flattered that it had such an impact. A little embarrassed by the attention. We are kind of new at blogging and have been just kinda keeping a little blog going here for Mom so she won't forget our adventures and all the fun we have together.

  11. Jed and Abby,

It's nice to meet you. Thank you for all the kind words. Mom was worried when she read about their lifespan. She has been pleasantly surprised. She says she wants me to stay with her forever. I don't know where she thinks I'm going. I've got it made here...couch, burgers, king size bed, toys. I'm staying put.

  12. Hello my new furiend...so glad to meet you by way of Honey's dance competition. You know my mom's eyes leaked water when she was watching the two of you do your dance routine. I know what it's like to be a senior doggie of 9 and your mom is so lucky to have you in her life at 13 and WOW dancing that is most impressive. I love your bow and I can't even do that! The way your mom looks at you when dancing yout can tell she totally loves you...you lucky girl.

Your sis Bella is quite the dancer as well, I like it when she sways back and forth.

Thanks for visiting my blog and come back soon.

  13. Hi Emma and Bella, thanks for popping over and visiting and following, I'm doing the same! I didn't know you had a blog either.

Emma your routine and bond with your Mum made me shed a little tear. You guys are so wonderful together. The same with Bella, although I didn't cry but I did have a big smile on my face:)

Good luck in the competition. It was lots of fun having a go and also looking at all the entries!

  14. So far I've just watched Emma's one, and I was impressed by the choice of music. That move you do when he sings 'Good morning Beautiful' is exquisite. I love the routine.

  15. Now I've looked at Bella's one and she's a star too. I think it's not fair to say you mum doesn't move well. She certainly moves better than I do! (Not that that's saying much, though.)

I think it's a wonderful moment when Bella's head sways from side to side as she stands under her mum's legs.

  16. Hi Emma & Bella, nice to meet you both! I have watched your dance videos on Honey's blog & I must say, you both were so good! Emma, your dance in particular touched my heart hence, I voted for you. It was so simple but yet it was so sweet. I am also impressed to know that you are 13 years old! That is just amazing. I know many Great Danes don't get to live that long because of their size.

Anyway, best of luck to you both in the competition & I hope we can be good friends! Do drop by my blog if you can. See ya!

  17. Hi Emma and Bella,
I came over from Honey's blog.
I thought you both did so well and showed off your great pawsonalities. I voted for Emma too, since like Amber-Mae, the dance really touched me, it just shows that age be no obstacle to a great loving partnership.
