I think Mom forgot about us today (Sunday). She's been fussing with fabric, thread, ironing, measuring, and there's been a funny repetitive machine noise.
Bella and Sweet Pea offered to help her.
The fabric had to be just right. Which one, which one, there are too many to choose from. These are the two fabrics that will be fashioned into something very special for two very special girls. Can you guess which two doggies will be getting something extra special?
What will this be? I already know. I've been hearing Mom talk about this since August. Honestly, I didn't think she would be getting them done this soon. Usually it's years before things like this get completed.
Here's a hint:
The two special girls with lovely, new, and stylish collars are Bella and Sweet Pea.
I'll be getting my own very special Emma collar too. I've gotta wait for Mom to get more supplies and decide which fabric to use. That means enduring the Mom draping several yards of different fabrics over me to decide which one looks best against my beautiful Emma colors. I heard her say maybe pink and I think I heard butterfly. Who knows, once all those boxes get pulled out and fabric starts flying it could end up being polka dot or paw print or floral.
Maybe Mom will let me pick it out all by myself. That would be fun.

Nice ones! Were they hard to make? They seem simple. Maybe I could try making one too. My brother's Boston need more fitting collar. He has always had an ugly and too big collar for him.
ReplyDelete-Lilli-
Wow! Good job! Collars seem like a daunting task to undertake!
ReplyDeleteEmma's Mom here: The collars were so easy to make. Lilli and Brooke you should try it. It's just a strip of fabric, iron on interfacing, collar hardware and thread. It's all straight stitching along each long side. You can do it :) The hardest part was sewing the square/rectangle with "x" to secure the ends. With the hardware for the collar it was challenging to get it all under the presser foot and stitched properly. I had to redo it many times before getting it secure and pretty. I'm thinking with Emma's I will lower the feed dogs and take the presser foot off and see if I can sew it better like that and hopefully the threads won't get all tangled up on the backside as that was a problem with these.
ReplyDeleteOh they are sooooo pretty! :D Your Mom is very talented! My Mom would do better to braid rope than attempt to make a new collar for me even though I could really use one. Same ol collar for over a year! :( Hint Hint Mom! ;)
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see yours too Emma :D
Waggin at ya,
Roo
oh wow – you've got such a talented human! :-) My human can't even sew button on straight, never mind make anything from scratch! :-) She says she was born without the "domestic" gene! :-)
ReplyDeleteSlobbers,
Honey the great Dane
What a clever Mum! Those collars are awesome. Can't wait to see what yours is like, Emma:)
